“The future storytellers of this economy shouldn’t just be those who figured out how make people stop scrolling, but those who create something that survives after the scrolling stops. Something people continue thinking about long after they put down their phones, because it influences how they see themselves and the world, not simply what they buy.” YESSSSS

Thank you so much for once again for putting something so complex into an amazing piece of writing.

Even on Substack, I see my notes going viral one after another when the long form writing I pour my soul into gets 20 likes at best. We live in some seriously interesting times lol.

And for what it’s worth, I read your articles from start to finish religiously, so please don’t stop, you do have my attention.

Love,

—A

You wrapped up the complexity of the attention economy and how it has evolved so well!

I love you! I concur. Best article I have read since I have been re-accepted on Substack. I was invited to Substack when they started by a fellow writer. It looked really cool! Get a bigger and tighter audience. So I signed up. Back then you could upload your email list. Well after decades of writing, selling RE & Life Insurance, and making music I had about 14,000 people on my contact list. So, I gave them my list for their system and like “magic” within days I had over a 1000 subscribers and numerous paid ones. It was exciting. I don’t need paid subscribers because I am very well off financially: but it was exciting and at the same time the anxiety set in: I had to write more. I talked with son who also produces music.

He said “Dad you are the best storyteller I know! You will do great” He then sent me his email list (nearly all his friends, music folks)

I thought nothing if it and sent the list through substack a second time. Boom even more subscribers. I had only posted one story about a family that grew flowers but I was writing away!

Then a day or so later I get an email saying my account is cancelled and I am banned for using an email list I paid for! Mad at first, argued but little response. i never clicked a substack link for years. I just recently started back.

I produce music. Artists you may know. I have practiced Buddhism for many years but rarely give my opinions: instead post doctrine. I also write stories and articles. You may learn some interesting things.

"We keep telling this story because, sooner or later, life demands the same transformation from us." Such a beautiful reflection to take with us.

I do want to honor the desires of my soul to write, and to write things that make people want to learn more and keep reading. Feed their curiosity. This is a gentle reminder of that desire.

Got hooked from start to finish. Thank you so much for that, it was very enlightening, like you’ve put words and context to a nagging feeling I’ve had for years.
